Technique Breakdowns

Technique Breakdowns
(insert video that explains how techniques will be taught and how to practice)
The technique breakdowns are designed to provide you with the basic knowledge to correctly perform each technique.  There are two general formats that we will follow when presenting techniques.  

Hand Techniques
What: Terminology, the name
Chamber: Correct starting position of hand and arms
Execution: Movement from the chamber to resting position
Where: Target areas, part of the hand used to execute the technique
When: Appropriate times to use the technique
Variations: variations in the execution of the technique that correspond to body facing and stance

Attack
middle punch
open hand strike
Defense
low block
rising forearm block
middle block

Foot Techniques
What:Terminology, the name
Chamber: correct starting position of leg and foot prior to execution
Execution: Correct movement from chamber to rechamber
Where: Target areas, part of the foot used to strike
Position: Proper position of the striking foot and base leg as well as lean of the torso
When: Appropriate times to use the technique
Variations: variations in the execution of the technique that correspond to stance and direction of movement

Attack
front snapping kick
side piercing kick
turning kick
Defense
inside crescent kick
outside crescent kick
